A Finnish casino hotel concept

A third of the country is bog.

Step into a low-lit adults-only casino salon, boardwalk suites raised over open mire, foraged cooking from the peat edge and warm bog wellness—held inside one casino hotel built on stilts above the wettest, quietest landscape in the north.

A new Finnish escape

The landscape nobody thinks to visit.

Suo Grand Casino Hotel is a fictional destination on the open mires of central Finland—a flat, treeless, endlessly wide bog that most travellers drive past without a second look. Up close it is one of the strangest places in Europe: sphagnum moss deep enough to swallow a boot, cranberries by the handful, cranes calling across the flats, and a horizon that goes nowhere. The entire casino hotel stands on timber piles above it.

Walk the boardwalk before dawn when the mist sits on the moss. Pick berries with a comb in September. Then step in off the planks into our adults-only casino salon, warm and low and lit like a lantern in the middle of all that open ground. Everything in this casino hotel exists in conversation with a landscape almost nobody comes to see.

Kelo Restaurant

Everything from within a day's walk.

Our signature restaurant works almost entirely from the bog and the forest edge—cloudberries and cranberries picked in season, bog myrtle, wild mushrooms, smoked fish, slow-braised game and rye baked with peat-filtered water. The list of things flown in fits on one line, and the room looks straight out over the mire from beside the casino hotel lobby.

Wellness from the peat

Warm mud, cold water, long rest.

Reset your rhythm using the oldest resource this landscape has—peat—in a low timber wing set well apart from the casino hotel's evening energy.

Warm Peat Wraps

Heated bog peat packed over the body in warm linen, an old northern remedy that leaves the skin extraordinarily soft.

The Bog Pool

A dark tannin-brown natural pool cut into the mire, cold, clean and far stranger to swim in than it sounds.

Boardwalk Sauna

A wood-heated sauna at the end of a long plank walk, with nothing but open moss visible through the window.

Essential information about this casino hotel and its adults-only casino facilities in Finland.

Yes. Casino entry at this casino hotel is strictly limited to guests aged 18 or over, in line with Finnish regulations. Valid government-issued photo identification may be requested at the casino entrance.
In June and July, yes, and there is no honest way around it. Every room and the whole boardwalk are screened, repellent and head nets are provided free at the casino hotel front desk, and by late August the problem is gone.
Only on the boardwalk. Nine kilometres of raised planking cross the mire in a loop, and stepping off it is genuinely unsafe as well as damaging to the moss, so the casino hotel asks guests to stay on the timber.
Very little, deliberately. Walking, birdwatching, berry picking in season, sauna, dinner and the casino salon. Guests who need a schedule tend not to enjoy this casino hotel; guests who need a week off tend never to want to leave.
Yes. Adult visitors are welcome to enjoy the restaurant, bar and the casino floor without staying overnight, subject to availability and casino hotel venue conditions.
Yes. Guidance on limits, breaks, self-exclusion and independent Finnish support services should be available throughout the casino gaming area and at the casino hotel front desk.
